Maritza Owens

Founder and Former CEO

Maritza Owens is a pioneer in bringing farmer’s markets to low-income New York City neighborhoods, one of the city’s largest managers of farmer’s markets in communities of color. For more than 25 years, she has been involved in some aspect of community-based planning, advocacy, environmental justice, economic development, and public health.

PERLA VAZQUEZ

Program Director

Since joining Harvest Home in 2019, Perla Vazquez has grown from Community Chef to Program Director, shaping and leading our programs every step of the way. She became Site Coordinator in 2020, advanced to Program Associate in 2021, and in 2023 stepped into her current role as Program Director. In this position, Perla manages both the day-to-day operations and the administrative oversight of our programs and markets, ensuring they run smoothly and serve the community effectively.

Beyond her leadership duties, Perla connects with thousands each week through Food Talk, our newsletter that reaches over 3,000 subscribers, sharing stories, recipes, and resources that bring our community together. Her dedication, creativity, and vision continue to make a lasting impact at Harvest Home.
