Having an open-air farmer's market selling reasonably-priced farm fresh produce is an effective means to create a community gathering place that encourages positive social interaction, cultural expression, micro-enterprise opportunities and information exchange in a culturally diverse and community-driven market place.  These are all highly valued economic and social benefits in an urban community.

Harvest Home Farmer’s Markets, was founded in 1993 by Maritza Wellington Owens.  The company grew out of the need to increase access to farm fresh produce in low-income neighborhoods.  One of the organizations founding principles is that all members of our society, irrespective of their socio-economic status, should have access to good quality produce.

Open air markets established by Harvest Home meet three major goals:

1) increased access to fresh, good quality and affordably priced locally grown produce

2) encourage cultural activities and information exchange, and

3) provide part-time employment and micro-enterprise business opportunities for neighborhood residents and youth.

The company was formed with the commitment to make farm fresh produce available to neighborhoods with limited access; to strengthen local communities by providing a place where residents can come together to share thoughts and ideas; improve nutrition and support local agriculture.

Each market location is developed to meet the needs and potential of the neighborhood. Our technique is to develop a specific mix of goods, services, information and entertainment that will best serve the community, the goals of the community based organization and the opportunities presented by the market site. Seeking organic produce, unusual vegetables and artesian foods for established farmers markets!
Seeking all vendors for new markets.

Harvest Home welcomes inquiries from regional farms and specialty food producers interested in our markets. While many products are represented, all of our markets don’t have the mix of products we would like to see. Current vendors offer a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, but we would like to see more diverse mix of products.
We are always looking for new vendors to make our markets interesting. Only the actual growers or producers, their families or employees, may sell at our markets. Everything available at a vendor’s stand must be local in origin and freshly picked or processed.
We do not accept crafts, or clothing vendors at our markets.
